Zeal Is Hiring: Project Coordinator at Live For Tomorrow •••
Lead NZ's only student-led network supporting youth mental health.
This is the issue.
Everyone has mental health. When our mental health is not so good it's called mental distress. Almost half of New Zealanders will experience a major period of mental distress at some point in their life. What prevents most of them getting help? Stigma and discrimination. The fear that by being honest you'll somehow be treated as not normal.
This is what we're doing about it.
Live For Tomorrow Chapters are groups of young people in high schools around New Zealand who are passionate about building a culture where everyone is included, no matter what they're going through. With the support of 24-7 YouthWorkers, Chapters meet regularly, discuss how they can make a difference, plan ways to do it, then make it happen.
Think you could lead that? Keep reading.
And this is where you come in.
You'll lead, coordinate and grow the nationwide Live For Tomorrow Chapters project which sits under Live For Tomorrow, Zeal's mental health arm, and is run in partnership with 24-7 YouthWork. There are 20 Chapters across the country, and we are planning for 30 in 2017 (or more if you can make that happen).

Key Responsibilities
- Take charge! You'll lead LFT Chapters, which support young people to:
- Promote positive mental health and wellbeing in their school.
- Reduce stigma and discrimination towards young people experiencing mental distress.
- Promote more inclusive attitudes and behaviours.
- Facilitate positive contact between people with experience of mental distress and those with the power to exclude.
- Encourage help seeking amongst young people.
- Support: You'll make all 20 Chapters across Auckland & Christchurch feel like you've got their back.
- Expand: You'll lock in a minimum of 30 schools in 2017. Want more and got a way to get there? Awesome!
- Train: Through workshops and video, you'll ensure that every LFT Chapter member and mentor is trained, resourced and supported.
- Collab: You'll keep good vibes with our mates and project partner 24-7 YouthWork, and with funding partners and other relevant organisations.
- Improve: What are we doing good? Let's extend it. How can we do better? Tell us and take us there!
Skills & experience
- You know your stuff. You've got relevant tertiary qualifications - youth/community development, social marketing, health promotion etc. And relevant experience (3+ years).
- You project manage like a boss, self-motivating and taking initiative at every step.
- Mental health is deeply important to you, and you've got the experience and knowledge to back it up.
- You excel at communication – written, interpersonal and public speaking.
- You're hungry. When you wake in the morning your stomach rumbles, waiting to be filled with epic social change.
- You create kick ass youth-targeted workshops trainings and deliver them with zing.
- You think outside the box to produce fresh ideas and concepts.
- You've got experience and ability in sourcing and managing funding.
- You're strategic. You see an awesome future and know how to get there.
- You believe in young people.
