Zeal Taranaki is looking for a barista tutor to help local rangatahi gain skills and employment. Great youth development practice is key. If you reckon you’ve got the chops, we want to hear from you!
Key responsibilities
- Tutor groups of young people in an intorductory barista programme one day per week
- Proactively engage with young people and build positive and effective relationships, in line with best practice strengths-based youth development.
- Connect young people to Zeal’s programmes and services.
- In collaboration with youth workers, connect and integrate young people from programmes with the wider Zeal whanau.
- Meet all administrative, reporting and file management requirements.
- Comply with all health and safety procedures, reporting any health and safety issues, hazards or possible risks to the Manager.
- Play an active and contributing role within the Zeal nationwide team, fostering shared learning opportunities and experiences.
- To assist the Manager in any other capacity as directed.
Skills and experience
- At least 2 years' industry experience as a barista and as a tutor
- At least 2 years' experience working with young people
- A working knowledge of youth development practices, the Youth Work Code of Ethics and the Circle of Mana

Where's the job?
Your core mahi will be at our youth centre in the heart of New Plymouth, however you will be required to travel to local schools and kura in your role, and engage with staff and rangatahi remotely in the event of future lockdowns.
Vaccine required?
Due to the role requiring direct contact with students and young people, you will be required to be vaccinated to apply for this role.
