Versus Talent Quest: highlights, winners and results

Versus Talent Quest hit Stokes Valley on February 3rd 2018 thanks to the support of
the Hutt City Council. 16 talented artists, including bands, acoustic artists, a
comedian and a dancer made it through to the finals. Here were a few highlights of
ours:

1. Pfuma, the 15 year-old comedian from Tatia

In Pfuma’s audition he came across as timid and shy, while still delivering some
great comedy. At the finals he stepped it right up. He was like another person. He
delivered some fire, having the whole room in stitches as he delivered content about
his school and his Mum.

2. By Friday, the band from Hutt Valley High School

By Friday blew us away with their cohesion and ballads. With a band that included
an electric violin and a keyboard they brought something fresh to the table. This is
definitely a band to keep your eyes on.

3. Stokes Valley local Wiremu, aka Noizulli

Wiremu rapped over some slick beats made by a friend. He talked of life growing up
in Stokes Valley and represented SV with pride. It is people such as Wiremu that
make Zeal excited to be running events in Lower Hutt.

4. Brooke, who absolutely nailed it at just 12 years-old

The judges tallied their scores at the end of the night and announced the
winners:

3rd Place: Beatbox extraordinaire Jarad Copely aka Rare

2nd Place: Acoustic artist Peyton Morete

1st Place: Local Stokes Valley rapper Joseph Afoa
