Emerging Wellington creatives prove young people are the future in art exhibition

Six young Wellington artists showed their creative works for the first exhibition at Zeal Wellington’s new Cuba St space, with photography, paintings, visual art and zines taking the center stage.

The exhibition opened on Wednesday 29th November, with friends, peers and family and coming along to support Wellington’s next generation of artists. All attendees were given a token to vote for their favorite piece, with a $100 voucher up for grabs for the artist with the most votes.

Young person Jenna completed live Special FX with computer parts, while Plum showcased their documentary about teenagers in Wellington (accompanied with a zine).

“If you want a 9-5 job, this isn’t for you, but living a life in the service of others is the most fulfilling thing you will ever do.”

“It’s been amazing to be in our own space after such a long time without one,” says Jenna, Zeal Wellington’s regional manager. “We’re loving being in such a central part of the city, right on Cuba St. It’s a smaller space, but it’s still just as full of energy and creativity.”
