Zeal Hamilton plays host to Antique Pop-Up Shop

Kia ora!

We’ve hit the ground running this year here at Zeal Hamilton with new initiatives, partnerships, and a new set of creative programmes. Here’s what we’ve been up to!

A Good Story – Meet Ben

When Ben first came to Zeal, he didn’t really want to be here or to engage with anyone. He had experienced different types of dysfunction in his life and often came to us angry and in a state of rage.
As we’ve journeyed with him over the last year, Ben realised that he was never judged or labelled here at Zeal. The team was able to become an example of consistency to him and recently, one of our team got to become his mentor and rally behind him. With the support of his family, Ben has now started his tertiary education journey and we are so excited about all that’s ahead for him.

The Antique Pop-Up Shop

We got to play host to another great community event – the time, it was the Antique Pop-Up Shop with Thrift’d Streetware. On 29 February 2020, young exhibitors from all over the wider Waikato region joined us.
Over 500 people throughout the day came and bought vintage and antique clothing, most of which are no longer in production.

Creative programmes in full swing

Term 1’s creative programmes are in full swing and all of our classes are full!
The barista programme has proven to be a hit once again so we now have two barista programmes running! Our end-of-term celebration is happening Friday, 3 April and we’re excited to showcase what this talented crew of young people have created.
Plans are already underway for Term 3, which will see us introducing hip hop dance and graphic design to our repertoire of creative programmes and we are amped!
