As one of our social enterprises, Stories Espresso Bar sits right outside our Zeal Wellington venue, serving delicious People’s Coffee to the public. Proceeds go back in to the work we do, and young people coming through our barista Programme can gain real world experience serving customers at the cafe.
We’ve just had our first intake of students for 2019, with 6 young women from around the Wellington region learning to make the perfect coffee under the watchful eye of Kirk Hodgson, Stories Espresso Bar manager.
The barista Programme will be running for 12 weeks as the students are trained in grinding beans, frothing milk, pouring shots and making those cool fern designs that baristas do.
All of our Programmes at Zeal are designed to create space for young people to explore their passions and give back to the community. If you’re a teenager looking to learn how to make a mean coffee, head along to our Programmes page and sign up! If you want to support the work that we do, head down to Stories for a coffee on Cuba St. in Wellington, or donate to us today.
