The Zeal Kāpiti crew is set to start construction in their new premises, as the portable music box continues providing workshops to high schools in the area.
In June, the crew received a green light to fit out our latest Zeal center in Kāpiti thanks to community finding totalling $1,000,000. Thanks to Dooley’s incredible pallet furniture skills, the fit out will take place over the next few months.
While the hustle continues at the youth center, the music box (a fully fitted out shipping container) has found a new home at Kāpiti College, where workshops in music writing / production are provided to the local students.
Over Māori language week, students from Kāpiti’s College’s film class worked on a promotional video for the music box while budding muso’s rehearsed and performed Waiata.
In September, we also recieved a generous donation of $5000 from Waikanae Lions as part of their Heads Up For Kids project, where obsolete currency (old coins, notes and foreign money) is converted to New Zealand dollars and used to fund education programmes. Legends!
