In Zeal Hamilton’s biggest ever event, Hamiltron Nerdfest saw every nook and cranny of the venue filled with culture, competition, cosplay and crates of vinyl for the people of our city.
The Hamilton venue was filled to capacity with gourmet food trucks and local clothing stalls outside, with gaming rooms, collectables, cosplayers, vinyl record sellers and a rare sneaker exhibition inside, and vinyl DJs performing throughout the zones.
Dujon, the brains behind Nerdfest, spent the day in a hi-vis vest making sure everything was running smoothly. “Everyone was so enthusiastic and the mixture of different ages, cultures and interests created an environment where diversity was celebrated.”
“People from as far away as Whakatane came along! It means a lot to continue to provide an environment for us to celebrate alternative culture in Hamilton,” says Lehi, Zeal Hamilton’s manager. “Our young people really stepped up to be our official photographers and cafe staff, outworking their passions in a meaningful way.”

The ‘30 Under 30’ awards recognizes those who are excelling in their field or have overcome adversity to give back to their community.
As well as the Zeal Hamilton team taking out an award, one of our young people was celebrated for his sweet snaps.
