Are you a passionate campaigner and marketer who wants to enable transformation in young people through outstanding communication?
Zeal is looking for a Communications Manager to attract, engage, delight and inspire Zeal’s vast community of stakeholders using campaigns and communication technology, resulting in rapid growth in engagement, action, donor lifetime value and satisfaction from all stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of communications campaigns that drive increased engagement from, and acquisition of Zeal supporters, and result in a more meaningful donor journey.
- Ensure cost-effective use of campaign budgets, with a focus on donor lifetime value.
- Develop and manage Zeal's online communities (in particular, lnstagram, TikTok, Facebook, Linkedln and other relevant online communities), in alignment with Zeal's Digital Strategy, resulting in mass engagement from young people, their whanau, Zeal's supporters and partners
- Provide insight and guidance, collaborating with key staff who manage Zeal's regional online communities, resulting in a cohesive Zeal brand experience for stakeholders, and continued growth of Zeal's online channels.
- Manage and grow zeal.nz in alignment with Zeal's Digital Strategy, growing engagements with Zeal's blogs and updates, interest in Zeal's work and locations, enrolments in programmes, hires of venues, donations and offers of support/collaboration.
- Grow Zeal's database of stakeholders and increase engagement and action through inspiring, personalised messaging.
- Use digital tools, brand monitoring, insights and data-driven decision-making to learn and adjust communications strategies to increase effectiveness.
- Assist the Digital Director in leading the development of Zeal's Digital marketing and brand strategy, and lead execution.
- Provide regular, useful reporting and insights to the Senior Leadership Team, Regional Managers and board on Zeal's communications.
- Support the Senior Leadership team with timely and targeted content, which enables more efficient and effective fund-seeking, communication of key updates, policies and procedures, and lead the delivery of Zeal publications throughout the year.
- Stay abreast of promotional opportunities at Management meetings, and support the Regional Management team by collaborating on timely and targeted communications, which enable them to enhance their impact on the ground.
Skills and experience
- You know your stuff. You've got 3+ years' experience and demonstrable effectiveness in digital communications, specialising in one or more of: social media; community management; marketing automation and email marketing; content management; web analytics; content creation.
- You've got a nuanced understanding of youth development or community work.
- You are a highly effective collaborator.
- You can use your knowledge and skills with digital tools to do great marketing, fast.
- You have a working knowledge of The Circle of Mana and Te Whare Tapa Wha.
- You have a demonstrated ability to build relationships with colleagues, community members and external collaborators.
- You have a demonstrated ability to mentor and coach others in a way that upholds their mana.
- You have a proactive, self-motivated mindset and approach.
- You think outside the box to produce fresh ideas and concepts.
- You're hungry. When you wake in the morning your stomach rumbles, waiting to be filled with epic social change.

Where's the job?
This role is a permanent position based at Zeal West Auckland, with some flexibility to work from home as needed.

This position description forms merely a guide for the overall responsibilities for this position. A more comprehensive list of tasks and objectives will be set by the reporting manager on an annual basis and will form part of the performance review process.
This position description forms a part of your employment or engagement agreement and should be read in conjunction with Zeal Education Trust Policy & Procedure Manual.
